I HEART supporting up and coming designers, for various reasons…ONE: I love helping new and talented designers get their start and TWO: I love being the first to have the newest, most creative and FABULOUS items!!!!
So my when friend and up and coming designer, Nora, who creates the original and innovative jewelry and accessorites line ¨ShookIt Designs,¨ told me she started a blog to show off her fantastic creations, I was all about it.
I wanted to share the link with you so you can stay updated with all of her new products and items.
ShookIt Designs Blog
Ahem AND…wait for it…I am actually MODELING in one of her latest and greatest blog posts. I of course noticed some of her amazing new rose jewelry and knew immediately I had to have a piece of my own. So Nora custom made me a red rose ring, which my hands (used think they were chubby and pale but NOW they are model worthy!!!) are oh so graciously modeling. Of course you´ll have to visit her blog to see it. 🙂
Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy is set to take over for a disgraced John Galliano at Dior. Or is he? Well it´s not entirely confirmed, but rumor´s have been swarming at Paris Fashion Week that this is the man to have the job.
However…we also have Alber Elbaz as a contender. He has managed to completely turn around Lanvin (I LOVE LANVIN so he´s clearly done an amazing job). Elbaz has mentioned he´s quite happy at Lanvin, but several say they saw members of the Lanvin team crying during Paris Fashion Week, as if he´d put in a resignation. (However this tells us nothing…if you´ve ever been behind the scenes during fashion week…it´s stressful and insane…people have been working 65 hours straight and no one eats anything of course wanting to be skinny and perfect…everyones hungry and cranky and tears are entirely warranted).
SO WHO´S THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB?!
SO WHO WILL TAKE THE SPOT? My bet is Tisci…we shall soon see!

Olivia Palermo, New York City socialite and my personal favorite biatch from reality show ´The City´(NYC spinoff of the Hills) is set to model for Mango. She shot the ad campaign with her boyfriend Johannes Huebl.
Although her personality isn´t really my style (for some reason…rich, snobby socialites rub me the wrong way), I can´t argue, the girl is gorgeous, and her fashion sense is DEAD on.
She looks incredible in these images from the winter Mango lookbook that should be available soon. Am OBSESSED with the sequined one shoulder dress too! Oh and finally…her bf isn´t too hard on the eyes either!
If anyone has viewed my recent posts on Edgy Glamour, Fur and Leather, and Holiday Dresses, those were all created by yours truly in the oh-so-fabulous website called Polyvore. It´s really simple.
First, you go to http://www.polyvore.com
Then you create a free account. Then you browse through different categories, like pants, tops, accessories, etc and you pick favorites to add to your items. Then you can create special sets with all of your favorite things. You can even make entire collections if you want.
I find that the best way to use this site is to pick a theme or topic, and then browse through things with your specific topic in mind. Otherwise, it can be overwhelming. Themes can be anything from, Jeans I Love, to Amazing Things in the Color Purple to Boho Chic or Perfect Winter Scarves. Be creative and have fun! If anyone wants to create a set and send it to me, I would be happy to post it on my blog (if it makes the cut, haha). If you want to get real crazy, you can even upload your own photos or pictures from other sites and resize them and use them for your polyvore sets.
This site is really helpful if you happen to have your own fashion blog or are interested in fashion or design of any kind. Enjoy!
THANKS TO MEGGY who opened my eyes to this incredible website! xoxo
Milan´s Window Shopping
Being in Europe, I feel it is important to give proper attention to some of this continent´s most amazing fashion locations, one of those of course being Italy, with special focus on Milan. (Don´t worry Madrid, you are still my number one fave!). This will be one of the many posts I will be putting up with information and experiences about this fashion paradise, Milan. Additionally, I will be posting about other travel destinations in Italy, just because it´s truly a spectacular haven for a vacation, or to live (must admit…am tempted!).
So, to get started, I will be doing several volumes on Milan. Being in Milan was like being in a fashion dreamworld. Everyone is fabulously fabulous in every way shape and form: dressed to the T´s, super skinny, super tall, and just super perfect in general. It was like I was wandering aimlessly through a crowded jumble of designer labels and stilleto knee high boots…and at each streetcorner, staring ever upward towards either a Dolce and Gabana, Prada or Armani shop. That´s pretty much the best analogy I can give to explain the vibe in Milan…there is a Starbucks on every corner of every street in the continental US and there is a Prada on every corner in Milan. Enough said, no?
In any case I was left open mouthed by a zillion different aspects of Milan, all which I will be posting in the weeks to come. First of all, the window displays were FABULOUS. The merchandising was absolutely dead on and left me drooling outside each and every shop.
My absolute favorites, the standouts, I would say, were MIU MIU and the Versace shop, both pictured below. (Please excuse the imperfect pictures, I did the best I could, especially while being blinded by fashion)
Check out the glam shoes featured more than once in the MIU MIU shop front!
Finally we have Versace with some crazy lighting! Certaintly was eye catching! Gotta stand out when surrounded by so much high fashion…
As we saw last spring and fall, Scarlet Johansson rocked the Mango catalog and ad campaign OOC! This year is no different. I am not sure what imagery is used for Mango in the few USA locations they have but here in Spain, ScarJo is EVERYWHERE and she looks incredible-sexy, romantic, seductive, just amazing. And they are on every billboard, bus stop, etc in Madrid. Mango´s winter collection is called ´Fiesta´ (everyone better know means party) and its like it was made special just for ScarJo! See below for some pictures…you will probably recognize them if you live in Madrid!
