SCANDAL: John Galliano Fired from Dior

After seeing video of John Galliano making racist, anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris Cafe, Dior has officially fired him.  The video displayed Galliano making extremely offensive remarks at neighboring table, such as ¨I love Hitler¨, and other statements which are so offensive I feel uncomfortable writing them.

“In light of the deeply offensive statements and conduct by John Galliano in a video made public, Christian Dior has commenced termination procedures against him,” read the official announcement.

Natalie Portman, the newest and most current face of Dior (who is also Jewish), has released a statement saying she is ´shocked and disgusted´ over Galliano´s comments and wants nothing to do with him.

Dior is still showing at fashion week at the Rodin Museum in Paris.  Many are wondering for the future of Dior.  As for the future of Galliano…he´ll be immediately checked into rehab.

I personally am disgusted that especially this day in age, people still hold these viewpoints. I find it completely legit that Galliano has been fired, after all he is the face of a very prestigious company and I find his termination to be entirely justified.

Who will his replacement be?  There are rumors that his successor will be selected from within LVMH, Dior’s luxury parent company. Possibilities include Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci or Celine designer Phoebe Philo.  Outside LVMH Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz is also in the running.
