Golden Globes Best Dressed

This year´s fashion at the Golden Globes…well lets just say in general, I was UNDERwhelmed.  I was suprised to say that many of the looks that were voted to be the best, I wasn´t a huge fan of.  I contribute a ´Best Dressed´ look to be when I see a photo and go WOW, and have to do a double take. Usually at these awards shows I see have atleast five WOW moments…well this year, I had only two, which I will post below.

1. Angelina Jolie

This dress is very simple and that´s why I was impressed.  Angelina looks very elegant and poised in this look.  She is wearing an Atelier Versace dress, white Versace shoes and a red Christian Louboutin ‘Pharaon’ clutch.

Oscars: Best Dressed…and Worst Dressed?

I was thrilled this year to be able to view the Oscars, in English, in the USA!  It was great to be able to see it all go down in the motherland.  See below for fashion highlights.  (PS Was James Franco stoned the whole time…?)

My number one favorite look this year was the Elie Saab worn by Mila Kunis…it´s trendy, classy, fashion forward, elegant, graceful, and sexy all at the same time, which is pretty hard to be! And normally I don´t even LIKE lavender.   AMAZING!

Michelle Williams looks amazing in this Chanel…simple, and totally elegant. Love her hair too, she really pulls it off.

I also loved this silver Calvin Klein Gwyneth Paltrow wore.  Her singing left me bored but the dress is to die for!

In general I saw A LOT of red…ahem up and coming color?! See below

Sandra Bullock stands out in Vera Wang

Now I am not sure if I love this dress or not, it´s by L´Wren Scott…but I do have to admit Penelope looks HOT for just popping out a baby like 3 weeks ago!  But it´s a big Las Vegas showgirl, no?

Umm I´m sorry Jennifer Hudson when did you lose 100000 pounds?!  I liked you before! Now your ta-tas look a little funny…in this Versace….

FINALLY I would just like to say that I LOVE this dress and oh lord do I LOVE these jewels…by why the HECK were they worn together?!   Her dress was by L´Wren Scott and these jewels…well let´s just say the Cartier combo was wellllll over the one million dollar pricepoint! Why ruin the two by mixing?!  This girl needs Rachel Zoe STAT!

Finally I´d like to end with Natalie Portman wearing Rodarte…I don´t HATE her dress, I wouldn´t say worst dressed…plus I know she´s pregsies but really? Is this really a ´Best Actress´appropriate dress? I think she could have done better in her tutu and swan makeup!

    The Italy Chronicles: Vol 1

    Milan´s Window Shopping

Being in Europe, I feel it is important to give proper attention to some of this continent´s most amazing fashion locations, one of those of course being Italy, with special focus on Milan. (Don´t worry Madrid, you are still my number one fave!). This will be one of the many posts I will be putting up with information and experiences about this fashion paradise, Milan.  Additionally, I will be posting about other travel destinations in Italy, just because it´s truly a spectacular haven for a vacation, or to live (must admit…am tempted!).

So, to get started, I will be doing several volumes on Milan. Being in Milan was like being in a fashion dreamworld.  Everyone is fabulously fabulous in every way shape and form: dressed to the T´s, super skinny, super tall, and just super perfect in general.  It was like I was wandering aimlessly through a crowded jumble of designer labels and stilleto knee high boots…and at each streetcorner, staring ever upward towards either a Dolce and Gabana, Prada or Armani shop.  That´s pretty much the best analogy I can give to explain the vibe in Milan…there is a Starbucks on every corner of every street in the continental US and there is a Prada on every corner in Milan.  Enough said, no?

In any case I was left open mouthed by a zillion different aspects of Milan, all which I will be posting in the weeks to come.  First of all, the window displays were FABULOUS.  The merchandising was absolutely dead on and left me drooling outside each and every shop.

My absolute favorites, the standouts, I would say, were MIU MIU and the Versace shop, both pictured below.  (Please excuse the imperfect pictures, I did the best I could, especially while being blinded by fashion)

Check out the glam shoes featured more than once in the MIU MIU shop front!

Finally we have Versace with some crazy lighting! Certaintly was eye catching!  Gotta stand out when surrounded by so much high fashion…
