The best of MBFW New York City

This year I have been so busy that I almost forgot (blasphemy!) about New York Fashion Week! I have to admit, I haven´t been following it so today I finally got around to looking at everything and I have added a mix of all my favorite pieces for you to enjoy.

Trends to Note: White, Orange, Flowy/Transparent Materials, Cutouts, Color Blocking, Patterns, and last but not least…

GLASSES!!! I myself have been sporting glasses for years and oh look, now everyone else is too!

These first two are from Whitney Eve

This cobalt blue  Tracy Reese dress reminds me of a dress I just bought at Mango.  I adore this color blue, and it looks great on all skin/hair/eye colors.

Ever since my stint at Lord and Taylor I have loved Nicole Miller, and this season she did not disappoint.

Nanette Lepore showed a lot of mixing patterns, and it was fun and original

Mara Hoffman shows this beigeish, white color which I always love.  Glad it is still in style!

I LOVE JENNY PACKHAM.  I see Serene VanderWoodsen wearing every single thing she shows.

I could see Diane herself wearing this DVF dress. I have been a long time fan of her dresses.

Thank you Carolina Herrera for showing some white, this means I will have to return to Greece next summer wearing loads of white.

One thing I love about Rachel Zoe´s designs is that they are, well, cool. You see these girls, and your like ¨I wanna be like them. They look cool. ¨  Enjoy these last two looks by Zoe.

NYC Fashion Week: The Baggy Pant

TREND ALERT NYC fashion week…we all know that menswear and military style is ´in´but the baggy pant is SPIRALING out of control this next fall, it’s literally EVERYWHERE!!!!!  Make sure to get your hands on a pair as soon as possible.

Starting off with one of the classiest of designers…these light grey pants from St. Johns.  Am also loving the coat and necklace.

LOVING that Rachel Zoe showed her collection this season, and loving this military inspired suit.

Cristian Siriano, Project Runway winner (and gay love of my life, btw, saw him once on the subway, we both got off at Second Ave and Houston in NYC…I secretly followed him like half a block HAHA) has these metallic inspired pants with FABULOUS platforms.

This might be one of my favorite looks incorporating the baggy pant.  Catherine Malandrino always knows how to make a woman look sexy and beautiful while still keeping in line with the trends.  I love the shape of this pant and it looks great with the hat and fitted jacket. Umm also is this Paris Hilton????? I know she walked in some shows this year!

Of course Marc Jacobs would be right on top of this trend.  Note the two looks below from the MARC by Marc Jacobs shows.  I like the retro inspired feel. (Also note skinny belt!)

NYC Fashion Week: RED!

Fall 2011´s it color is most definitely RED.  I did see a lot of cobalt blue on the runway but bright red, orangey red, burgundy, all shades of red are going to pop this fall.

This Cynthia Rowley has a relaxed, 70´s feel to it.

This Rebecca Minkoff red jacket is perfect for fall, and I love these leggings.

You will definitely get attention in this red number by Jill Stuart…not to mention, I have been just waiting for ´fanny pack´to come back into style.

It´s not just red solids…red is going to be EVERYWHERE including prints, like this Peter Som dress.

Another red jumpsuit, this one patterned and by Alice and Olivia.

This Cynthia Steffe look screams ROAR! I LOVE the red leather skirt plus textured red top plus leopard gloves plus fur…its just a big mess of BOSSY.

Red by Betsey Johnson.

This ruffled red dress by Rachel Zoe is totally wearable…I want it!

The question is…will YOU be wearing red this fall? I WILL!

Ask Lori: Faux Fur…a do or a don´t?

Faux for is an absolute DO!  I love how it´s coming back this season, especially in vest form.  See below for celebs wearing faux fur.

Rachel Zoe fashion goddess wearing this flashy coat (willing to bet her fur is real…)

Sienna Miller looking fly in her faux fur, which is actually from TopShop, 170 pounds!

MK or Ashley Olsen (okay now that Mary Kate is no longer ´rexic, who can tell them apart anymore?!) in this amazing vest (real or faux…lets guess!)

Now this trend isn´t just something celebs can wear…everyone can pull this off. See below!

Heather, in faux fur vest purchased at a boutique on Fuencarral Street in Madrid

Below we have Claire and Andrea.  Claire´s vest is from Blanco and Andrea´s is from Sfera. (Note: Claire´s HUSBAND purchased her vest for her as a birthday gift…if only all our husbands-boyfriends knew fashion as well as David!)

Now a few tips if you want to buy a faux fur vest.  Faux fur is very eye catching so it´s best to tone down the rest of your outfit so the fur can be the focal point.  I recommened pairing with either skinny jeans and a plain black or white top, like Heather and Andrea did, or an LBD like Claire has on. Just pair it with something stylish and simple and you will look fabulous!

Hot off the Press! Rachel Zoe on Gossip Girl!!!

Just heard the news…RZ is appearing on tonights ep of GG!!!!!!!!  OMGGGGGGGGGGGG! Wish I didn´t have to wait til tmrw to see it! Unsure how she ended up drenched in chocolate sauce (omg whoever would spill chocolate sauce on this gorg Emilio Pucci gown and Alexis Bittar jewelry….muy mal!) Word on the street is Cynthia Rowley appears too!  I´m melting with anticipation!!!!

xoxo GG

Saved by the Bell Fashion: Lisa Turtle

And now presenting the most fashionable of all, Lisa Turtle.  Lisa looks bossy in her leopard dress and LBJ (little black jacket), black belt, sheer tights and black flats…(interestingly similar to the fashionable Tory Burch flats that took over the world in 2007). Leopard is one of those styles that really never goes OUT of style, atleast in my book!

So below we have my favorite Heroes cheerleader and style icon Rachel Zoe both in black dresses. RZ even has an LBJ and black tights on!

Lisa, are you somehow wearing Tory Burch flats? Weird.

Special thanks to Heather for perfect Lisa Turtle pic!!!!

Ask Lori: Shiny Tights: A Do or Don´t?

With these winter months coming up, tights are the perfect accessory to keep those gams warm.  The question this season is: Shiny tights: Yes or No?  Thanks Megan, for throwing this question out here.

Well, I say shiny tights are a DO.  Just please, remember, nasty rubbery spandex or pleather is not the same as a classy shimmer tight.  The most important thing is to look elegant with a shimmer look.  Shimmer tights aren´t trendy, they are classy and look best paired with dresses and heels, not boots or shorts. (You don´t want to look like a Hooters waitress) A holiday event or dinner date would be perfect.

Where can you buy a shimmer tight? My favorite brands are the Givenchy gleamers, the Calvin Klein shimmer tight, and I also believe Hue and Donna Karan make them too.  All these would be available at any department store.

See below for how to wear the shimmer tight.

Rachel Zoe looks beautiful in these shiny tights on her way into the Calvin Klein Party. (PS RACHEL ZOE I LOVE YOU)

This color is gorgeous and would look perfect even in the spring.  Jenny Packham is one of my new favorite designers.

Gold tights is a tough look to pull off but it can fabulous if you can do it right!  Chanel always does it right.

This black is more shimmery and less opaque then Rachel´s shinier pair.  These are extremely wearable and easy to style: throw them on with a black dress and heels and there you have it.  Entire look is Collette Dinnigan.
