Bobbi Brown Store Opens in Madrid

I am thrilled to announce the opening of the first offical Bobbi Brown store in Madrid.  This New York City brand highlights the importance of enhancing your natural beauty, and just so happens to be one of my favorite brands of makeup.

You can buy all sorts of makeup, brushes, skincare and fragrance at the store.  It´s located in Barrio Salamanca on Calle Lagasca, 32.

New M.A.C Store Opening on Goya

Now that Michael Kors has settled in, it´s time for another MAC store to come down to the Barrio Salamanca area.  There is already one shop on Fuencarral in the Chueca/Tribunal zone and there will soon be another.

I am not sure when exactly the shop will be opening but I did snap this photo…so hopefully the store will open soon!  I´d much rather buy my MAC products there than at Corte Ingles.

The shop will open on Goya near Serrano.

Estée Lauder: Mad Men Makeup

Shake. Stir. Seduce.

That´s the tagline of the new makeup collection created especially for Mad Men by Estée Lauder.

(The model they used looks just like Betty, the blond in the champagne colored dress in the cast photo above-nice work Estée Lauder!)

In case you are unaware, Mad Men is a fabulous television drama that takes place in 1960´s New York.  I adore the show and am anxiously waiting for the it´s return, Season 5, which will premiere on March 25th.

I think this is a fabulous collaboration because Estée Lauder embodies what is Mad Men: vintage, elegant, mature, but still sexy.  Estée Lauder has been around since before the 60´s, so for them this is probably a take on what their collection was once like.  The packaging is glamorous and elegant, and I can´t wait to purchase a product, I think I will go for the red lipstick!

The collection will be available exclusively on the Estée Lauder website and at Bloomingdales.

G-Star Raw Women´s Night Event

This Thursday, October 27th, G-Star Raw will be hosting a special event at two separate El Corte Ingles locations in Madrid, one on Preciados and the other Castellana.  There will also be an event held Friday night in Barcelona. The event will feature fashion tricks and the newest trends and help fitting and finding the perfect pair of jeans.  Print a copy of the invitation (go to the Glamour España website to get your invite) and you´ll have the opportunity to get a free MAC makeover during the event.  More details below, including the exact addresses of the Corte Ingles locations. Enjoy!

Pure Threads Collection

Emma Watson has proved to be an actress, then model, and now: fashion designer.  The face of Burburry and Lancome (she actually just shot the Lancome campaign this past March by photog Mario Testino-see pics below), Emma has helped create an eco-friendly collection for Alberta Ferretti.  The collection, Pure Threads, is small and features five pieces created entirely from environmentally friendly materials.
Emma was excited at the prospect of working with Ferretti because she´s worn her designs on the red carpet and loved the idea of working with natural materials.  Ferretti has been equally inspired by Emma, saying she´s impressed at how successful she became at such a young age.
Saving the environment comes at a high price in this case.  The clothes are not cheap, ranging from 200-700 GBP.
Black Dress 700 GBP
White top 440 GBP and Skirt 570 GBP
Denim shorts 220 and white top 440 GBP ( Okay I know they are eco-friendly but really…220 for a pair of dukes? All mine are ´recycled´anyway, cut off from old jeans…does that count as eco-friendly?!)
What do you think? At what cost would you go to save the environment???
Also just for kicks I am putting up two photos from Emma Watson´s Lancome shoot…I like it!  Classy.  I am always a fan of Mario Testino.

New Sephora on Gran Via

A new Sephora has recently opened it´s doors on Calle Gran Via 32 in Madrid.  On Nov. 16 the store held it´s innauguration complete with celebs, a red carpet, stylists and beauticians explaining beauty tips and giving makeovers.  Sounds like my kinda party!  The store is enormous and is home to not only designer labels like Dior, but also brands that are often difficult to locate in Spain, like Urban Decay, Benefit, Make Up For Ever, and of course Sephora´s inhouse brand called…Sephora!  Get shopping!

Love of My Life: Kiko Makeup

I should probably document the moment I fell in love with Kiko.  It was a Monday night last winter. I was cold, alone, sad, and in need of a pick me up.  Vodka, one might ask? No, nail polish was the only answer.  As I wandered down the crowded streets of Fuencarral, suddenly, rays of light pointed me towards my own personal heaven: the Kiko Makeup store.

I skipped into the store, knowing that its black, Mac-esque packaging and sheek polished look would call for expensive prices.  I asked a shopkeeper how much a bottle of nail polish cost, dubiously, knowing I shouldn´t drop 12 euros on yet another new nail polish color.  She told me ´1.90 euros´.  You don´t say! (No me digas, is actually what I said).  But it was true. A plethora of delicious fruity flowery colors of nail polish, all at the palm of my hand for under 2 euros a bottle!

I wasn´t sure how much time had passed in the store. Minutes, maybe, hours, possibly, even days, who knows. All I knew was this place, this place, was the greatest place on earth.

Now flashback to modern day…where my roommate and I have quite a combined collection of Kiko nail polish (bitchfights ensured when we have to move out next year and divy up…I call dibs on the blue´s)

See below for the amazing color variety!

First, some summer colors

Now, some fall and winter picks

The best part about it is that although the nail polish is available at a really great price, the quality is also fantastic. I honestly don´t see a different between Kiko and Essie or OPI.  I have tried many nail polishes in my time and I find that many cheaper brands get gunky or separate shortly after opening but that isn´t the case with Kiko.  And the color selection is phenomenal, they´ve got everything!

A word about their other products…I happen to really like the eyeshadow, bronzer and lipstick I have purchased there as well.  I know my besties are crazy about the black liquid eyeliner as well.  Kiko also has a great selection of eyeshadows, and everything in the store is reasonably priced.  They have good quality brushes, which will run you slightly more expensive but in comparison to other brands, still extremely reasonable.  They even do makeovers and makeup lesssons for 10 euros.
